The Impact of Evangelism: What If We Don't Go?
In our journey of faith, we often encounter questions and doubts about the significance of sharing the message of Jesus with others.
One thought-provoking question that my wife, Naomi challenged us with during a recent Evangelism Campaign at Vision Church was, "What will happen to me if I go and evangelise?"
However, she continued saying that an even more powerful question was posed to challenge our perspective: "What would happen to them if we don't go?"
This shift in focus compels us to consider the profound consequences of neglecting our calling to share the love and truth of Jesus with the world around us.
Family: Abandoning Rights for Eternal Impact
Imagine the impact on your family if you were unwilling to abandon some of your rights to share the news of Jesus with them.
By prioritising personal comfort over their spiritual well-being, they might miss out on the transformative power of God's love and the hope of salvation.
Neighbours: Embracing Responsibility and Love
As believers, we are called to love our neighbours as ourselves.
If we refuse to accept our God-given responsibility to engage with and share the message of Jesus with our unbelieving neighbours, they may continue to live without knowledge of God's redeeming love and the hope found in Him.
Eternal Reward: Engaging in the Spiritual Harvest
When we actively participate in sharing the gospel and joining the spiritual harvest, we position ourselves to receive eternal rewards.
However, if we neglect our role in this vital work, we risk missing out on the blessings and rewards that come from being obedient to Christ's Great Commission.
Impact on Relationships: Washing Feet and Demonstrating Love
Consider the impact on those you spend significant time with, such as close friends and co-workers.
If we don't adopt a servant role and humbly demonstrate God's love to them, they may miss the opportunity to encounter Jesus through our words and actions.
Just as Jesus washed the feet of His disciples, including Peter the denier and Judas the betrayer, we are called to love unconditionally and without prejudice.
Cultural Influence: Engaging Amidst Change
Our culture is constantly evolving, presenting new challenges and changes.
Instead of retreating into our comfortable spaces, we should actively engage in the world around us without compromising our beliefs.
By answering questions, giving an account of our faith, and boldly living out our Christian values, we have the opportunity to influence our culture positively.
Conclusion:
As followers of Jesus, we are called to be redemptive people, reflecting the love, grace, and truth of our Saviour.
The questions raised during the Evangelism Campaign remind us of the tremendous impact we can have by simply being a little more like Jesus.
Let us embrace our calling to share the message of Jesus with our family, love our neighbours sacrificially, engage in the spiritual harvest, serve others with humility, and make a difference in our culture.
By doing so, we can bring hope, transformation, and eternal life to those who desperately need it.
